Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a quick getaway in the lower altitude Annapurna region of Nepal.  The trek is short and sweet with fantastic views of the mountains.  It is perfect for a family trip.  Poon Hill (3210 meters) is the ultimate destination of this trek, which is the best viewpoint of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu mountain ranges. Rhododendron forests surround the trail, while the ethnic Magar and Gurung communities inhabit the area.

The trek to Ghorepani Poon Hill embarks from Nayapul, a common departure point for treks in the Annapurna region. Following the stream and walking through the picturesque terraced hillside, you climb up to Ulleri.  It is a somewhat strenuous climb, though certainly worth the effort.  From Ulleri, the trail continuously goes through a massive rhododendron forest. The dynamic attraction of the trek can be revealed in the Spring, when the forest expresses its various warm colors. The hike to Poon Hill begins from Ghorepani in the early morning, which offers the spectacular views of Annapurna (8091m), Himchuli, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8156m) and the surrounding snowy white peaks. Another noteworthypoint of the Poon Hill trek is exploring the Gurung culture in Ghandruk. It is a typical village with traditional Gurung culture and hospitality. Beautifully nested in the nature, the pristine Himalayas can be explored from there. The trek ends in Nayapul and drive further to Pokhara.  There will be plenty of photo-taking opportunities throughout the trek.
